We have just added a very interesting publication "Innerleithen Shops" by Bobby Richardson, to the Shop as an immediate digital download PDF file.

Bobby has done a great deal of work over many years to compile a complete history and record of all the shops in Innerleithen. This resultant work is published by Borders Family History Society, and Bobby has very generously indicated that he wishes all proceeds from sales to go to the society.

Starting at Number 1 High Street, working his way down the one side, up the other, and then broadening out to include all shops in the surrounding streets. Bobby sets out the history and ownership of each shop from mid Victorian times to the present. There are also photographs of nearly every shop.

In many cases there are receipts or bill-heads from the shops (with thanks to Oliver Russell and Glen Estates). Our own Gwen Stein contributed to the publication with a lot of background research.
